LattisSupport(tm) Install Product Specification Basic Install(tm) Designed for Ethernet and Token Ring local area networks (LANs) of moderate size and complexity, Basic Install includes the following value-added services: * Site survey. SynOpakes a thorough technical assessment of your entire premises so that all operational and environmental requirements are met prior to installation. This is accomplished via telephone or mail survey. * Cable plant qualification. Your existing structured cabling system is inspected and validated to ensure full support for 10BASE-T Ethernet and Token Ring. * Review and validate existing network design. SynOptics reviews your existing network design, while validating the technical requirements of your proposed plan. * Equipment is unpacked and inspected. Every SynOptics product received at your site is carefully unpacked and examined before the installation proceeds. * Installation of intelligent hubs. At a single site, any combination of 10 System 2000(tm) or System 3000(tm) intelligent hubs are mounted in customer-provided standard EIA equipment racks, on shelves or in a table-top arrangement. * Installation and configuration of intelligent hub modules. LattisNet(R) city, local bridge and network management modules for Ethernet and Token Ring are installed and configured in intelligent hubs. * Installation of transceivers and media filters. LattisNet transceivers and media filters are installed at each station. Patch cables are also installed to link end stations with wall jacks. * Download and configure network management software. LattisNet Manager(tm) for DOS and its associated agents are downloaded and configured at your central network managet console. * Attach and label all connections. Every connection is tagged and all cables are attached to the appropriate intelligent hub modules and patch panels. * Document configurations and serial numbers. SynOptics provides as-built documentation identifying locations, configurations, model numbers and serial numbers of all LattisNet products. Warranty documentation is also completed. * Perform functional testing. SynOptics runs your newly-installed network through a cycle of tests to ensure intelligent hub and module operations and configuration integrity of network management modules. All operational testing is fully documented. Before implementing Basic Install, you are asked to provide SynOptics with the following: * A designated point-of-contact for the Basic Install project. * Facility blueprints. * Main and intermediate distribution frame rack and wiring configurations. * Network design drawings. * Network bill of materials. * Corporate premises wiring standard (if applicable). * Site availability schedule. If you do not provide these materials in a timely manner, or approve variations, SynOptics will use its best effort to complete installation services. SynOptics will not incur any liability for performance when the required information is not forthcoming from you. Premier Install(tm) Premier Install includes everything in the Basic Install product, plus a variety of other value-added services for large, complex networks spanning mulle geographic locations: * Timeframe. The timeframe for installation is quoted on an individual basis and includes any number of System 2000 and System 3000 intelligent hubs at multiple locations. * Complete project management. SynOptics oversees your enterprise network installation and handles all aspects of project management - hiring subcontractors, supervising structured cabling installations, coordinating equipment deliveries, and overseeing all aspects of network implementation. * Cable plant qualification. All structured cabling is inspected and validated to support the high-performance Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) as well as 10BASE-T Ethernet and Token Ring. * Installation and configuration of FDDI networks. In addition to Ethernet and Token Ring, SynOptics installs all FDDI concentrators, connectivity modules and network management modules. * Installation and configuration of remote internetworking and terminal server modules. LattisNet remote bridges, remote routers and terminal servers for Ethernet and Token Ring - as well as their associated software - are installed in intelligent hubs and configured for performance across your wide area network (WAN). Cables from leased- line modems are connected to appropriate router serial ports. * Installation and configuration of the Network Control Engine(tm) (NCE(tm)). LattisNet NCEs are installed and configured in intelligent hubs at key strategic locations throughout your enterprise k. * Download and configure the Optivity(tm) network management system. SynOptics downloads and configures the UNIX-based Optivity network management system and its associated agents at your central network management console. * Download and cigure LattisWare(tm) and NetMetrix(tm). LattisWare management productivity tools and NetMetrix diagnostic software are downloaded and configured at your central network management console. * Perform functional testing. SynOptics conducts end-toAN testing through Telnet sessions between all routers and ensures the configuration integrity of your network management console. Before implementing Premier Install, you are asked to provide SynOptics with the following: * A designated point-of-contact. * Facility blueprints. * Site MDF and IDF rack and wiring configurations. * Network design drawings. * Network bill of materials. * Corporate premises wiring standard, (if applicable). * Site availability schedule. * Required work permits. * Access to electrical power sources required for network equipment. * A secure, lockable area for storage of materials and tools. If you do not provide these materials in a timely manner, or approve variations, SynOptics will use its best effort to complete installation services. SynOptics will not incur any liability for performance when the required information is not forthcoming from you. Basic Install and Premier Install Terms and Conditions Travel. Travel to sites within 50 miles of a SynOptics area office is provided at no additional charge. Travel expenses for sites beyond 50 miles will be charged according to the distance between the site and the closest SynOptics supporting office. Premises wiring qualification. Only one cable type per facility is included. Additional cable testing is available on a time-and-materials basis. Change orders. All change orders must be submitted in writing and authorized by your designated project contact and approved by the SynOptics project manager. Third-party equipment. You are responsible for purchasing all third-party equipment required for the installation. Price. All prices quoted exclude sales tax, use and excise taxes, and customs duties and shipping charges. These are your responsibility and will be added and identified on each invoice sent to you. Hours. LattisSupport Install prices are based on the standard work hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Other hours or shifts will require price changes. Patch cables. All patching and cross-connects are included for modular (i.e., RJ-45 to RJ-45) cables only. The punch down of cables onto connecting blocks (e.g., 110s, 66s, etc.) requires price modifications. Billing. SynOptics will issue a single invoice upon completion and customer acceptance of a Basic Install project. The progress payment schedule required for Premier Install includes 25 percent upon agreement, 25 percent upon on-site project commencement and 50 percent upon project completion and customer acceptance. Project management. SynOptics project managers are responsible for the scheduling, resource coordination, and overall implementation of the network. System design is excluded. Modifications to terms and conditions. Changes to the preceding terms and conditions require custom-quoted proposals based on SynOptics' current time-and-materials rate. Customer acknowledges that (1) Customer's representative signing below is authorized to do so on behalf of Customer and (2) Customer has read and accepts the terms of service listed in this Product Specification.
